A department social hour is held Friday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 pm in the department Sky Lounge. The laboratories in the department rotate in hosting this event, and they are responsible for coming up with an interesting theme; providing the beer/wine, snacks, and music; setting up and cleaning up after the event.  In the summer, ice cream is served during social hour. These gatherings are well attended and well received by all members of the department.
